JULIANA HAN (PCMF co-director) met the piano by chance - her inner city public kindergarten happened to have an arts program with free Suzuki lessons. She won her first competition soon thereafter, and by age 17 she had garnered international honors and multiple concerto soloist appearances. However, hesitant to pursue a life of heartless competitions and solitary practice, she quit the piano and studied biochemistry and law at Harvard University. There, she discovered chamber music and its most ardent adherents. She was hooked for life. During subsequent careers in business consulting, health policy, government finance and corporate law, she sought a way to pursue her greatest passion - making music with other people. To do that, she took a leap of faith in 2012, quitting her job as a corporate attorney to attend the The Juilliard School. Emerging with a doctorate degree, she now curates projects with musicians around the world and teaches in-person and through her videos and writings.

WAYNE LEE (PCMF co-director) lived in the Bay Area his entire childhood, from North Beach to the Mission District to Daly City, and finally, in the fourth grade, to Piedmont, where his family still resides. The city nurtured his music, too. His first violin lessons were in Chinatown, he took part in the Piedmont Schools music system, served as concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, and performed in many local venues with many local musicians. From there, he went to Juilliard and learned as much from listening to epic numbers of recordings with his peers as from practicing and performing. Now a member of two chamber ensembles and contributor to many other musical projects, Wayne travels the world playing great music, old and new, but makes it back to the Bay Area as much as he can to eat at Cheeseboard Pizza. Oh, and see his family, friends, and dog.

The 2022 FESTIVAL COMMITTEE is a vital part of PCMF’s operations, tasked with (1) fundraising to meet the festival’s operating costs, (2) promoting the festival and building concert attendance, and (3) arranging hospitality, food and lodging for festival musicians.
